Some of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico are found on the Pacific Coast in the Riveria Nayarit. Each year tourists flock to popular areas along this pristine coast line from Nuevo Vallarta to Guayabitos. One of the most well known surfer communities would be Sayulita attracting tourists from around the world. This little hippy town is a must visit with dozens of surf shops, gift store, galleries and awesome restaurants. The surf is ideal for beginners and experienced surfers with gold sand and beachfront restaurants.
One of my favorite beaches by far would be that of San Pancho located just a few minutes north of Sayulita away from the crowds. The surf at San Pancho is fantastic for those more experienced who can handle the large breaks north and south end of the beach. The sand at San Pancho is deep and gold in color with beachfront restaurants ready to serve you as you gaze at the scenery. You can view whales breaking and fisherman heading out for the days catch. There are no hotels or resorts in the area just small homes for weekly and monthly rentals.
Nuevo Vallarta and Bucerias beaches are the most popular with tourists with hotels and resorts along the coastline overlooking the Bay of Banderas. These beaches stretch for miles in either direction with light waves ideal for boggie boarding, windsurfing and swimming. Only 15 minutes north of Bucerias away from the tourist areas is Destilarderas Beach. A gorgeous secluded beach ideal for walking, viewing hatched turtles heading to the ocean or to spend the day relaxing but you’ll need to bring your own food and drinks. The surf is very light and enjoyable for the family. Located 10 minutes further north is another popular surfer community Punta de Mita. You’ll find some of the best restaurants on the Bay of Banderas along with surf shops and the famous Punta Mita Community with Four Season Resort.
